"Pithy, witty, funny and on top of the news. What blogs are to political commentary, the Daily Scribble is to the editorial cartoon. I keep coming back for more." Joshua Micah Marshall, Talking Points Memo.
"Though Charles Pugsley Fincher would do well to find a stage name, his daily scribbles are nothing to scoff at. Plain and simple, on lined yellow scratch paper, yet they speak volumes." Jacob Wheeler, Utne.com.
United States Ambassador to the United Nations, John Danforth, has resigned. He'd lobbied George W. Bush to nominate him for Secretary of State. Of course, Condoleeza Rice received the appointment. However, the gossip is that Bush thinks Danforth is inflexible and sanctimonious. I guess you can only have one of that type on the team. Here's the story from MSNBC.com.
In researching this story, I came upon this CNN.com story about Bush choosing his vice- presidential candidate for the 2000 race. I hadn't remembered that it had come down to Dick Cheney and Danforth. Consequently, this is the second time Danforth has seemed to get close to something he wanted, only to have Bush pass him over.
By chance, I've got the Dr. Strangelove movie on in the background. What wonderful satire. Seems timely except for the players.
