Former Enron Chairman Ken Lay was indicted yesterday. The indictment will be unsealed today, and he'll turn himself in.
Lay supposedly did not like angry confrontations and so would tell people what they wanted to hear which would later make him appear deceitful. Other executives thought Lay had a big capacity for self-delusion.
Many think Lay is a fraud who should not pass go, but instead should go directly to jail. At least some think his management style cast him in the role of the fool while underlings criminally manipulated the company. Still others say he didn't comprehend that the wrongdoing was wrong. Last night, Ralph Nader said that the indictment is three years late in coming. 07.08.04
