By Charles Pugsley Fincher, A Spin-Off of ThadeusandWeez.com

On Friday I watched an interview of Paul Wolfowitz by Margaret Warner on the NewsHour With Jim Lehrer. Warner questioned Wolfowitz about the hand over of sovereignty to Iraq. Wolfowitz assured her Iraq would be sovereign, but became evasive when she began to press him on how true this was. Warner posed the question of what if the Iraqi governing council objected to a military action by the United States, would the U.S. defer. Wolfowitz replied that he hoped that wouldn't happen, but that it was a hypothetical question and that he didn't see any purpose served by answering hypothetical questions. I wish he and other Defense Department civilians had asked themselves more hypothetical questions about postwar Iraq before beginning the war. 05.31.04
