Gas prices sky-rocketed past $2 today. Democrats, some Republicans, even some corporate types are calling on George W. Bush to open up the strategic oil reserve. The Saudis haven't come to the rescue, yet. It's somewhat interesting to note that Bush said during the last campaign that if there was an oil shortage, he'd get the Saudis to open up the spigots. Sounded great.

Meanwhile for the first time rebates are being offered for Hummers as sales slump. The Hummer is oversized and as a result not governed by fuel economy requirements. Can anyone drive one at today's gas prices? 05.18.04
